Biography[]
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror[]
Sally Shine was a successful Hollywood child-actress in the 1930s. Sally was often accompanied by her strict nanny, Emeline Partridge. On the October 31 of 1939, Sally and Emeline attended a Halloween party in the Hollywood Tower Hotel of Sunset Boulevard. The two entered an elevator headed crewed by bellhop Dewey Todd when the elevators were struck by paranormal lightning originating from the 5th Dimension, sending those within the elevator plummeting to their deaths.
Following this event, Sally, Emeline and the other victims became ghosts bound to the hotel and the 5th dimension while the hotel was closed. During her time as a ghost, she learned about the hotel's nature and other inhabitants such as the demonic Shaft Creatures. The hotel was subsequently reopened in 1994 and staffed by a crew of evil bellhops. Sally frequently encountered new victims and would-be victims of the hotel, sometimes saving them from the hotel.
Tower of Terror (film)[]
Sally Shine was a popular child-actress in the 1930s with an envious older sister named Abigail. Sally also had a line of dolls based on her likeness, a parallel to the real life Shirley having a doll line of her own. She is accompanied by her nanny Emeline Partridge, where despite being stern and strict, it is revealed that they have a close relationship with each other, with Emeline taking care of her as if she was her own daughter.
Development history[]
Sally Shine is a character originating from the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction. Shine was very visibly based on real-life child-star Shirley Temple (later Shirley Temple Black) who had connections to the Walt Disney Company and her own tragedies occurring behind the scenes of her Hollywood career. Sally was also partly influenced by the character Bettina Miller from the episode Little Girl Lost of The Twilight Zone. In this episode, Bettina was trapped in the 5th Dimension and could only call out to her parents from a disembodied state, an event referenced by Sally's voice in the queue for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney's California Adventure. In Disneyland Paris, she was made the centre of more storylines in a 2019 refurbishment.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (book)[]
Sally met our main Character and so grand sister Harper "Shine" Parker in her hotel room and was able to speak to her by a Tape as she had adapted using the Magical book that was left by Gregory Todd.

Trivia[]
- In the attraction, Sally was voiced by voice-actress Kat Cressida. Kressida also voiced the ghost Constance Hatchaway in the Haunted Mansion.
- In the ride, Sally's stuffed animal was of Mickey Mouse. This is often confused for the Shirley Temple doll in the lobby and a doll of Talky Tina.
- In the film, it is possible her birth name was Sally Gregory due to Abigail having had this surname. It is however also possible that Gregory was a married-name for Abigail.
